not to break your heart or anything... but your prices are way > than retail. Here are glasscages.com retail prices for a glass aquarium and oak stand/canopy:

240-6 Gal. Tall 72 x 24 x 31 $650
72 x 24 72 x 24 x 30 tall $425
72x25 72 x 25 $200

The lights sound like they might be worth $50

Total new for the aquarium/stand/lights shouldn't be more than $1325.

Even though we all hate it... used equipment usually ends up going for 1/2 retail. Heck... I had a CPR aquafuge PS that retailed for $299 at AC and I couldn't sell for $150 OBO.... so... I still have it (kind of glad now. Its good for qt.). I never even got a "best offer". :P

A good asking price to start with for what you have would probably be more in the $700+- range.
 
I understand what you are saying but this tank is new.
It has not been set up that long.
The lowest I could go would be $1250.00.
If it were a much older tank I would definatley agree w/you. I know most will agree with you and you are correct.
BUT like I said it is a new tank, even if it has water in it.
Thank you for your input though.
I guess I will keep it if I have to.
In the area I am in you can't touch a 220 for under 1250.00 wholesale to the 2 petstores in town here.

CONSIDERING AN UPGRADE- Then read this : )

Will also consider trade on a nice oak colored corner tank and small amount of boot. Also may consider a 36" cube for fresh water cichlids, I need something no longer than 36" for my space that is available. All tanks considered must have wood stands. No canopy wanted.
Will also include the magnum 350 canister filter that is only 2 months old....

Look at your area... Crab Orchard doesnt have anything. Nor does Crossville. Cookeville has Exotic Tropicals, which I use to work there and you can buy stuff from petmsart cheaper then they can buy it from their distributor. When I use to work there, I would ask greg(the owner) if he needed any salt, because it was $12 cheaper to buy it there then to buy it from his distributor.

To upgrade yours to where it would be at saltwater standards would cost one of us another $1500-2000 once you figure in MH lights, proper equiptment for a reef tank, not mention 220lbs of live rock, 200+lbs of sand.


Glass Cages is in Dickson, TN, not some company far off in Cali. $1300 and roughly 3hr round trip you can have a brand spanking new one reef ready with stand/canopy.

I understand you want to get your money back. Online people are use to discount prices, especially for used equiptment such as tanks etc. Doesn't matter if you have had it a day or 10 years, used is used. Just like buying a new car, as soon as you drive it off the lot, it is no longer new, it is used.


So to you, $1250 might sound like a deal, but to a reefer, a used tank is not worth that. There was somebody on here the other day with a 150g tank/stand/canopy, live rock, live sand, complete setup from Algood (right by Cookeville) for $500 if that gives you a ballpark price to go on.

Sorry if I offended you, but I had to put my 2 cents in. I held my tongue/fingers too long, haha.

I got the hint from the other post.
I need to sell to a freshwater person so they don't have to go through all the upgrade stuff.

Anyway, I KNOW!!!

That is why I said i will just keep it OR
that is when I thought of a trade. If I trade for a used tank then it will be a closer deal.
I have went to all my posts on all the sites and put in a new paragraph that says I will consider trade for the size closer to what i need.
Then that will be fairer.

I have changed the listing everywhere to consider a trade for someone who wants to upgrade and I want to downgrade, maybe we can make a deal ????:confused:
I am looking for a corner tank w/wood stand 92 gallon close to new like mine or in good shape setup preferably as fresh and then we can workout details.
Because I have the filter and some fish also to deal with.
I am just talking about working something out.
Usually when I trade or sell I give away alot more than what I have listed and am VERY fair.
So please just let me do my business.

Caryn- maybe make a flyer and see if you can post it at the LFS? I know AC often has stuff on the glass under the counter at the registers. You might have better luck snagging freshwater interest there...
