I have opinions about other LFS, for instance I think bio-reef has the best selection and price for fish in I
JAX - however, their tank and hardware prices are high.

I don't really get that because I bought a 180g RR AGA tank from bioreef and only paid $550+ tax. I couldn't find anyone around that was selling a 180g that cheap...

I was thinking the same thing, I got a great deal on my MH ballast from there. Although they are the Coral Vue distributor.

Bio had a sale going when you got that tank.

It looks like im gonna be getting 3 250w coralvue retro kits and a skimmer this week from bioreef unless someone else can match their prices. Its not really fair though because like ben said, they are a coralvue distrib.

im on a budget so im going with performance/value. Ive read alot of about the coralvue ballasts and reflux bulbs and they are supposed to be really good.

NIk,

I would stick to Bio-reef with your selection. Although PFO is probably better, you get more bang for your buck with the electronic ballasts, especially if on a budget. I have used those ballasts and bulbs with no prbles at all.

BTW- STOP HIJACKING MY THREAD PEOPLE:D :smokin:

I probably will be unless someone meets or beats their price on at least the same quality of products.

FYI, PFO makes electronic ballasts.

Yes, but what is the price difference between pfos and the coralvues that Bio-reef has on sale. I think that is the issue at hand. Nik, is looking for the best deal, not the best product.

Back to my Ricordia website find.:p

No, but that's like comparing Vegas to Corvettes lol

You really think PFO ballasts are that much better? Btw im not going to run HQI, its way to expensive for me and not worth it IMHO.

If i got a standard PFO ballast and a hamilton 14k bulb (i like their bulbs), I would get 214 PAR

If I got a Coralvue ballast and a hamilton 14k bulb, I would get 363 PAR.

PFO Standard heat rating
0 minutes 79F, 35 minutes 83.2F, 45 minutes 90.1F

CoralVue
0 minutes 70.3F, 35 minutes 82.1F, 45 minutes 90.6F

PFO Standard Max Watts with hamilton 14k
220W

CoralVue Max Watts with hamilton 14k
268W

Here is my source.

Just a little bit, but I like the XM bulbs better. IMO
