Went to the LFS today to give then some urchins I founf last night...I think thats the last of them....Looking around I found a nice niger trigger, and bought him....He was good size for me @ 3" with a nice pink color in his tail....Acclimating him now....Cant wait to see him in his new home

no its a niger with a trace amount of pink barely noticeable...He is a deep purple, I thought there were light blue but from my understanding they lighten up as they mature....This guy is now in the tank and after 20mins in hiding he is checking everything outand finding any uneaten pellets and gobbling them down...

here are some pics, He actually went after my watchman goobys and they are now in hiding....Funny how this guy looks deep purple and when the flash hit him he is light blue...

the pink that you cant see is in the light part in his tail

They do get pretty big! I suggest saving for a new tank, or just dont get too attached. He will out grow the tank in a hurry.

wellnow my jawfish and watchman gobys are in hiding...The trigger went after both watchman...should I play it out? the burrowed in the back of the tank, kinda sucks, I liked seeing them upfront....

how big is the jaw fish? mine has never gone after my sleeper goby. but if u have a pearly jawfish gotta be careful he might think its a minnow and distroy it.

it is a pearl, but he is good size and the niger trigger never went after the jawfish, but the yellow watchmansare small, he will also stare down my PM shrimp, but dont thinkhe can get to them, for a trigge rthats supposed to not be very agressive he sure is, but he just might need time to settle in... would he be ok with other fish

hippo tang, clowns, etc

I cant really comment with much experience, but I do have a 72Bow and have really researched the heck out of compatible fish. The niger trigger is semi agressive, in a small - 72-very agressive. Especially when you have a tank full of passive fish. Dont start to base the behavior on the trigger, look at the behavior of the current inhabitants... Plus I have seen a mid size trigger at my LFS, HUGE for a 72.

Good luck.

i have mine with cleaner shrimps and chromis and gobys and hermits and snail with no problem or aggression towards anyone. id say feed him and give him some time. ive had mine for over a year now and the only fish he was alittle aggressive towards was a blue jaw trigger.

good to hear, he immeadiatley wanted food the second I added him, now @ night with the moon lights on the watchman came out of hiding and is right near the trigger, the trigger checks him out and leaves him alone....I would love to have a cleaner shrimp...do you think I could add him tomorrow night, And try to find a larger one to be on the safer side...

I would say he would be more apt to not go after your other inhabitants if he is fed well. Might want to consider a new place to move him to when he gets bigger, as he might get more aggressive the bigger he gets.
