Night Mode

I was wondering if I could plug my two vortechs into my timer that controls my lights and let them work during the "lights on" period and then let the battery back up drive them at 50% reduced speed at night? Will this damage the pumps or the battery backup? Also, as I only got one wire for connecting one pump with my battery back up, can I pick another one up locally? Is there anything special about it? Thanks!

This extended charging/discharging pattern is not particularly good for the battery and can prematurely wear the battery down.

Extra battery cables can be purchased directly from IceCap, they only provide one per box.

Me too....night mode. Not sure if it's possible with the current interface, but it would be even nicer if it could be on an adjustable timer.

A light sensor like the Tunze controller would be awesome. The browser idea with upgradable firmware may be a lot to ask for, but hey we can dream.

A light sensor for me would be problematic. I run my lights during the late afternoon/night (3pm to 1am) and there is a window right in front of the tank.

So, during the day, even with blinds, the sensor may not be able to detect that it is "night time".

Hopefully whatever solution EcoTech comes up with will be able to be used by all.

I have my Tunze light sensor right under my lights and it works perfectly for me during the day when other lights are on and the tank lights are off.
