Hello owners of the Coolpix 3100 & 5700! I being the owner of the 5700 encountered a glitch with the camera. I noticed some of the pictures I was taking began turning out completely black, but I thought nothing of it. The camera was working fine up until yesterday yet today when I turned it on and began snapping pictures they came out looking like this ...
Now I have had this camera for over 3 years now and have encountered no problems with it up until recently and it was always babied in a Nikon Bag because it was very expensive. After some help from BeerGuy and Aural they let me know that it could be the sensor in the camera and I soon began doing research on google if anyone else has had this problem. Turns out a few ... I went on www.dpreview.com and found some other guy who had the same problem and Nikon fixed it for free. Here's the link:

They talk about a Service Advisory Released from Nikon and what steps you need to take to have Nikon fix your Camera... Here is the link to the Service Advisory from Nikon ...

You have to print out a form and also take a look at the F.A.Q. section of that page, it tells you the steps and what to expect. I will be calling Nikon tomm. or monday to follow up and confirm this problem ... 'till then ...
