Nikon D 90 with or without lens?

I'm going to be purchasing a D 90. It comes with a 18-105mm vr lens for around $1200. If i buy just the body its $900. would i be better off buying just the body and using the $300 towards a different lens? or is the 18-105 mm vr lens a good lens to have?
Thanks for the advise
Todd

The 18-105 is a good lens for the price. I just bought that kit combo and it looks like it will meet my needs. Depending on your photographic interests and the 'quality' of your eye towards imperfections, you might find a better lens would be useful (e.g. the 16-85). But, if you are like me (an interested amateur), the 18-105 would likely do you just fine. Here's a review: http://www.slrgear.com/reviews/showproduct.php/product/1221/cat/13

edit: Here's another thread which might be worth reading.

The 18-105 is a decent walking around lens. I like it. I'm not sure what I'd pay for it separately, as I bought my D90 on day 1, and body only wasn't an option yet.
