Are you able to take photographs of still objects NOT in the aquarium? Post some pictures with XIF data and we might be able to pinpoint the source of your problems.
Even just posting your typical settings might clue us in as to what is wrong with the photos...
But until you give us a little information all we can do is speculate. My guess is that you are not parallel to the tank glass, that you haven't WB the camera to the tank lighting and that you have the camera set to P. How'd I do?
UH_OH.....did you head over to that other website I mentioned to talk with those folks? They might be better able to assist you with that D1X. The D1 and D1X menus can be a little difficult to follow (I should know, I have a D1 and I still have to pull out the manual periodically when I use it).
