Nikon D40 - how much will a good macro REALLY cost

Whats a reasonable price to pay for that lens? Thats for pointing me to the correct one!

Also looks like a decent price on the new tamron is 449.

The Tokina 100mm is only $399 new. I've read great things about it. I have no idea if it will auto focus on a D40 though. That's one of the reasons I went with the D50 instead (along with bracketing).

Is this the exact lens I want for my nikon d40. Ive decided the Tamron 90mm is the best bang for the buck.

You want to make sure that the model number is: 272EN II. Note the 'II'. That gives you the version with built-in AF motor.

It's hard to tell from that product description. But, the vendor should be able to tell you if you send them a direct question. Alternatively, buy it from B&H you are shipping the AF version for the same price.

BTW, take the '$401.95' savings with a grain of salt. Every reputable camera store is selling this lens for around $440.

Yeah im probably going to my local camera shop and pay a bit more to avoid confusion, returns, and misinformation.

They may even price match. Not to mention I can bring in my camera and play around with the actual lens.
