I am in the process of installing a 150G in my basement and installing a fishroom in the room behind the fishtank.

Here is the prliminary design of the aquariums.

Please note:
- Tank dimensions are 72x24x24
- Overflow box will be almost Coast to Coast
- Bean animal overflow will be used
- All 1.5" holes are for the bean animal overflow
- All 1" holes are for return water lines
- The two 4"x4" boxes in the corners will be dry and will house all wiring going into the canopy
- The 3" holes in the two boxes will be used to bring wiring from the stand to the tank/canopy

I am debating if i should go Coast to Coast and down to the floor with the overflow box. Also anyone know what what my gph would have to be in order to have 4 returns?

Also anyone know what a good sump design would be for the tank? I am coming up with some ideas on sump designs.

Another option i am thinking about for the tank is to go with a C2C overflow, but instead of going to the bottom of the tank have it go 8" down. Also get ride of the overflow teeth or weirs and do a straight edge.

Equipment List:

Lights:
3 Radion xr30w

Pumps:
2- Mag-Drive Supreme 1200 GPH
**At a head of 7ft they should do around 875-900GPH, which gives me around 10x flow.

Controller:
Digital Aquatics Reefkeeper Elite w/NET

Skimmer:
Looking at Reef octopus, but have not decided as I do not have a sump configuration that I want.

Sounds good! You will love the Radions.

If you aren't already planning to, use an adapter and run 1.5" pipe off the Mag Drive. That will hep you cut back on head loss. Once you get to the tank you can convert back to 1" or 3/4".

Update:

I decided to go with a C2C overflow that was external with the Beananimal silent overflow system.

Here are some updated pic's of the design. I will be sending the tank design out for quotes today.

Here is the list of changes made:
- External C2C overflow
- 2 1" return lines that will be split into 2 each once it gets to the overflow box
- My plan will be to get 2-3 Vortech MP40's and place them on the back not on the sides. My flow in the tank should be around 4600gph - 5600gph depending on how much i have to dial the vortechs down since they are going on the back.
- Sump flow will be around 1600gph.

Anyone have any suggestions on which type if heater is the best to get and also what is the best skimmer to get?

Here is a picture of what the overall tank setup will look like. I have ordered the tank from Envision Acrylic. James it a great guy and I have ordered a custom stand and canopy from a local steel fabricator.

Black line = Return line
Orange line = drain

From left to right on the drain system is- Full siphon drain---Flow Drain----Emergency Drain.

I will also be using a gate valve on the full siphon drain. Also the last segment of pipe off the refugium return is for water changes. I will put a connector on it so i can connect it to a hose to empy water.

Correct me if im wrong but a 72x24x24 is a 180 gallon i believe not a 150.... :) regardless looks like a sweet setup

That is correct. It started off as a 150G with an internal overflow, but then it changed to a 180G with an external overflow.

I figured it was something like that... I didnt want to ask in case I was being a ding dong and couldnt read but I simply could not resist the temptation :hammer:
