nitrate help!

my nitrate is through the roof! I have tried multipule water changes and it is still high. Any ideas on how to lower it?

What size of tank do you have , do you have a skimmer, a sump, a refugium, dsb ect ect

55 gallon with60 pounds of live rocks and a pro clear sump and built in skimmer. I buy all my water premixed from the LFS. I was thinking of buying kente nirate sponge. Yes, no, maybe? I don't have a rfug.

Do you think it could be that the premixed water is old? I've heard of people sometimes having problems with premixed water because it was old. I don't know if it cause nitrate problems though... Just a guess

Is your tank still cycling? Does it have any inhabitants?

It isn't shelf water, so it shouldn't be old. It has been up a while don't think it is cycling. I have 2 clowns, coral beauty, bi color psud, damsel, clown goby, few hermits, snails, green bulb aname. I am up for any suggestions. The water from LFS reverse osmo.

Thats a simple fix. Get a better Protein skimmer and install a fuge.
