Nitrate Remover

Has anyone ever used "ALGONE" to remove nitrate? I was wondering if it worked well or not. Or does anyone have any suggestions to get rid of it. I am also doing a water change today as well to help lower my levels. I have had my current tank up since mid May with mostly new Live sand and my old live rocks from my old tank.

nitrates are always a part of the cycle. the problem is the cycle is stopping or slowing alot at this point. at least all nitrates not introduced in make up water but then again they are still part of a cycle. where do you get your water from? top off and mixed. did you check the water for nitrates before you put it in your tank?
if you have a sand bed and rock in the tank they should do a real good job unless you never change your filters or don't run a protien skimmer. I had undetectable nitrates as long as I have run a skimmer no matter how junkie the skimmer was. also make sure you are not over feeding.
some of the nitrate sponge type products can help but will more than likely not keep up with whats being put into the tank.
by the way how high are your nitrates in the tank and did you check against a second test kit at a store or a friends?

The only thing that I've used successfully to lower nitrates have been water changes and AZ-NO3 which you can get at marinedepot.com. You can do a search for vodka or sugar to lower nitrates and many people swear by this as well.
