If anyone recalls, I had a ridiculous nitrate problem a few weeks back that was killing off my corals.
I have done some water changes, put in a Nitrate-lock filter and nitrate levels went from over 160 to 0.
The last three days, however, I have a spike in Nitrates to around 40. I am not sure why.
About 5 days ago, my toadstool (which was performing wonderfully even when my nitrates were so high) dlowly stopped extending its "hair" and its head is covered is some clear slime. Not sure if this is related or not. My bubble coral, which was also rebounding, is now unwilling to inflate.
I also got a new pink colt 2 days ago, but I am also not sure if that would cause a spike or not, since it was beginning to spike prior to insertion.
Food amounts are the same. Calcium is the fine. Temp is the same.
Any ideas?
