To help along with other methods of reducing and getting rid of brown hair algae what should I use as a filter media-Nitrate sponge or Phos Ban....?

Nitrate sponge doesn't work well in salt water. It would be a waste of your money. Phosban would be fine in a filter or better in a reactor.

P.S Where is Bemus Point? I grew up in Brooklyn.

Bemus is 80 miles south of Buffalo.....
What about Kent Phosphate sponge...any good, only thing LFS has other wise need to order on line

Phosban would be better, because it's iron based. Phosphate sponge will release phosphate back into the water if you leave it in to long. Iron based media will not.

P.S I went to college in Cortland N.Y is between Binghamton and Ithica

Kent Phosphate sponge works but it has a lifespan of about 48 hours before it releases the Phosphate back into the water.. GFO works better, lasts longer, and won't leach.
