Nitrates in newly mixed Instant Ocean

Mixed up 25 gallons of I/O for my weekly water change, FOWLR. Been fighting some hair algae so decided to test the new water and got a positive result for nitrate using the Seachem test kit. I tested my RO/DI water and it shows zero so it must be the salt mix right? Anyone ever have this problem with I/O? Did a search but couldnt find anything. I am thinking of switching to Coralife salt, your thoughts?

That's not a bad range for lps coral, but I'm wondering about the accuracy of the test. Never had it before? Using ro/di water? Could be your filter is going out?

Filters in R/O are pretty new and R/O water tests zero. I opened a new bag of salt and mixed up a batch of water. This batch measures zero so either the salt was no good (I was near the end of the bucket) or the test was inaccurate. Thanks for the replies, for now all is OK.

This is why i do not like to buy Buckets of salt mix. I have had this same issue before.
I buy 200 gal boxes with 50 gal bag at .21 per bag Kent marine. So i slowly poor the whole bag into mixing tank while the tank is being filled moving water from ro/di tank to mixing tank.

Even when i mix thin set mortar or any other dry pre made product if i am not going to use the whole content i will dry mix the whole bag. Remove what i do not need then add water. There have been a number of threads on here that say it does not matter . some say they roll bucket on the floor some say its mixed well..

My opinion is a bucket is not consistent if you mix small batches from a bucket and not dry mix properly first.. I have Two Commercial mixers a BIG Gas powered one and a small one that is electric and can be used indoors.
