my nitrates are still at 20 and amon and trites have been at 0 for the past 3 months whats going on and how do i lower the trates i want to get an sps

How often and big, are your water changes?

every other week and it is 5 gallons

are you using RO/DI water? that will go a long way toward helping the overall water quality.. A fuge with macro will also help lower the nitrates

Have what? A fuge? Or RO/DI? I know you have an RO filter, but wern't you wainting on new filters?

I may stop tonight an get some macro for my fuge, i've got the tak drilled and just sitting there, I figure I might as well use it.

i had that problem in my tank i put some thing in my tank to help to keep it down and it dont hurt the tank. Dr. Foster and Smith has a nitrate sponge that removes the from the tank and it for marine tanks.
