i just tested my r/o water after i mixed the instant ocean salt mix and i have some nitrites in it ?? my r/o is about 1 year old.
should i use my well water instead of my tap to run through the r/o unit??
Some of the canisters in your RO need to be replaced. A year is too long to go without changing probably 2 of them. Contact someone where you bought the RO unit and ask them.
the filters in an r/o unit are only good for so many gallons of water. Some r/o units require the filters be changed every six months. If the filters look exhausted or dirty its time to change. An add-on DI unit would be very helpful also, that will help filter out any impurities that the filters let pass by.
tap alone no salt had less nitrite / my well water had none.
i will buy new filter i thought they lasted longer.
since my well water has no nitrite should i be using that even after changing filter?thanks for the quick responses!
think that’s bad i have 0.4 ammonia reading in my R/O water
have high ammonia in my tap water though!
R/o unit only been running a month as well,
any thoughts on this or am i left with just one option getting the best R/O unit out there
The nitrite might be a trace contaminant in the salt mix. It's not going to hurt anything. You could try a TDS meter to gauge the quality of the RO-DI output.
