woke up this morning 6:30 am and of course first place i head is down cellar to my tank room Tis hobby is a sickness lol. Moon light still on from 8:00 pm last night all nitrogen bubles that were on heater siphone ect. were gone . very few rising rom sand . Why are the gases formed only when actinate and white lights are on?

By the way I don't type or spell well but I'm shire you all can figure out what I'm saying I'm good at 99% of everything else LOL.:eek1:

Sounds like Nitrogen gas coming off of Live rock/Sand. What type of sand are you using? How old is the Sand in the system as well?

Are you using an Under gravel system as well? Seems like it could be a combo of both.

The original sand i don't know how old it is tank was set up before my wife purchased it . It only had about 1/2 inch fine sand I added 20 lbs on the 29th of last month stired it in with old sand. Found my missing fish on floor this morning darned if it doesn't rain it pours. All i have in tank now is skunk clown . Have cabage leather a torch and a cabdy coral would like to get a couple fish today what would be good with the clown in 25 gal /

Nitrogen gas, is good. If you see little air bubbles in your sand bed it means the bacteria are doing there job. that gas will rise out of the sand bed float to the service and out of the tank, hence a cleaner tank.

It doesn't lok good though was not as bad today. Why is it worse when actinic and ocean white lights are on? not many bubbles when luner lught on. Also i never see bubbles in the reef tanks at local shop.
