No algae! Am I doing something wrong?

75 gal DT with 30 gal sump. Caribsea dry rock and dry sand.
Started cycle in August/September tanks been cycled since November.
Added my first fish, two small snowflake clowns a month ago and that is all so far, may be adding a pair of black and white clowns next week.
Did my first water change last week, 5 gal and probably not necessary.
My nitrates were only around 10 ppm.
I keep reading about new tanks going through the ugly stages with diatoms and algae and I have never had anything like that yet.
Is it because my bio load is so light or because I don’t have lights up yet or because I didn’t use live rock?

I don't have lights up yet

Bingo..
Algae,etc... needs both light and nutrients (nitrates/phosphates)..
No light = no algae..

The blacks ones are likely Darwins, say bye bye to the snowflakes...

I'm hoping not!
I thought that the tank is large enough and if I got a black pair that was the same size or smaller than the snowflakes that they could get along.

They might if they are all the same size and you introduce them all at the same time.

More then likely though, the blacks(if darwin) will pick off the oscellaris, unless the oscellaris are bigger of course.

Just bought a pair of black oscellaris myself, but they are all black no white stripe, and tank raised.

Well the snowflakes will have been in the tank for a bout 6 weeks when I introduce the blacks and I will make certain they are all roughly the same size.

And I want the Black oscellaris. Not the Darwin.
Are they less aggressive?

Depends, are your fish tank raised, or wild caught? The darwin species are black and white striped and come from around Darwin, north AUS. They are more temperamental then the typical oscellaris(from what i have read, no experience).

Unlike the pair I just picked up that are cross bread until they had a black(Midnight oscellaris, no stripes), then kept breeding more black.

It looks as though they call any black and white stripe oscellaris a Darwin, regardless of whether they are wild caught from Darwin, or tank raised.
