no algae growth on glass

I would like to know if there is anything else that will cause little to no algae growth on the front glass other then low nutrient levels. My sps corals are in real bad shape with loss of color and stn. I am suspecting low nutrients since I have little to now growth of algae. I just wanted to confirm my thinking.

When was the last time you did a water change???

I usually do a water change every other week. I have started to add kno3 this past week to raise my nitrate up to around 5 to 10 ppm. I have been slowly adding it and am now at about 2ppm.
