no growth and pastel color

well...thank's guys for all that chemistry...But all I have are Alk, Calcium, and mag, along with Seachem's Fuel. (which does have Fe)

The colors are still back and forth. But over all the tank is doing well...I think that right now the best thing I can do is get a few more fish. The tank was doing GREAT when I had it "over stocked" while using the Biopellets. Now that there are only 3 fish and the pellets are still active, the tank seems stripped. So I guess I have to order a few swimmers...(and a clean up crew)...cause we have no quality LFS around here. :/

I'll try to get some newer pics up soon.

Your two days to late, BlueZoo was at my door this morning. Got a yellow watchman a flame angel, a wellso, and a ??? monti or stylo. You could always just run to shreveport, call me if you do. No casino though. Glad to here stuff is doing better, my tank is needing a RP bad, already got the spot picked out right underneath the 400 and soon to be 4 PAR38.

Alk is at 8.5 now. If I go higher I see a negative response from corals. Could be related to low phos
Why what happens? ir seems strange do you run a calcium reactor?

Nah...I don't have any money. Waiting for our next paychecks...and saving for my trip to nextwave. I think i may try to get another RP there or a strawberry shortcake.

If I have left over money I want to look for fish, if I don't see what I want I'll look to order, probably from BZ.

Don't buy another RP, just cut a piece off and I'll toss it in my tank. LMAO. I have gotten just about all the corals that were on my list, other than the RP and SS. I need to go get a new test kit this thing won't seem to read any phos or nitrates in my tank at all. I'll be getting my new light rack/canopy up this weekend, ya'll are welcome to come by.

Are these your personal recommendations? If not, where did you find this information? Thanks.
your nitrate is two high and your phospate is two low
Recommended water parameters for accelerated coral growth
"¢ Algae nutrient levels of 1 "“ 2 ppm nitrate and 0.1 ppm phosphate; to maintain a relatively high
population of Zooxanthellae that will provide enough energy to the corals for growth.
"¢ Boosted and balanced levels of the Foundation Elements [Alkalinity 12.6dKH / 4.5meq/L, Ca
465ppm, Mg 1390ppm] to properly utilize all of the extra energy
"¢ Availability of the minor and trace elements taken up by the corals during growth [I2
0.06ppm, K 410ppm, Fe 0.15ppm]

Recommended water parameters for enhanced colouration
"¢ Algae nutrient levels of 0.25 ppm nitrate and 0.02 ppm phosphate; to maintain a reduced level
of Zooxanthellae, reducing the brownish tint of the corals and inducing the protection response of
enhanced coloration.
"¢ Reduced levels of the Foundation Elements [Alkalinity 8.2dKH / 2.9meq/L, Ca 430ppm, Mg
1310ppm]to lower the energy demand from coral growth
"¢ Availability of the minor and trace elements used in the soft tissue for increased
colouration [I2 0.06ppm, K 380ppm, Fe 0.15ppm]

BTW...the new coral magazine has a great pic of a whole "tray/palette" of ORA RP. I think you might be surprised by the color it is...or is not.

I just want a red acropora, and a yellow one. If I can do that I will be satisfied with my collection. So any progression or is everything just maintaining?

I see one new polyp of growth on the base of the frag, but no new color. It's a shame cause it looks like the top is dying and spreading down...and this silly frag is on the sand bed...and still bleaching. Blah. I wish I had money and time to set up my 110 and get a more stable body water.

Well I was looking at the tank while I made up more salt for water changes and noticed that the frag and the colony of red planet that I have are both starting to get some green, which is the first color I've seen on them for a long time. So, Frank, I'm gonna let you have the frag and I may frag the whole colony again just to get it to grow better some where else. Just let me know when you are free.

At that height u should be fine growing lps anywhere in your tank I have a 72 gallon wit a 6x54 watt ati sunpower at 7 inches off the surface and grow any SpS toward the top and all lps toward bottom I think u should change ur bulbs I'd run 1 aquablue special 1 purple plus 1 actinic and 3 blue plus seems to work wonders for me

Well I hate how yellow the aquablue specials look. They literally turn my tank instant 10k even with 5 blue plus around it. I am thinking about two purple plus and 4 blue plus. I used to have two actinic bulbs but I found out that they did nothing for growth (or color) because the par was so low, and they basicly were only place holders for the dawn/dusk effect. But ever since I did 5 blue and one purple...the tank looked great, so I wonder how two purples will do as far as growth since they are full spectrum? I'm glowing to get a little faster growth once I order them. But time will tell.

Haha...I figured you were. I don't know if it would be better in your frag tank or in the main tank. It's just starting to show growth.

It will go in the display, frag tank is for QT and frags. I forget you haven't been over since I started the rebuild, after the shrimp destroyed my stack I just never liked the new rockwork. So I fixed it and am about half way through the rest of my upgrades. Call me whenever bud.

Ok everyone...I'm happy to report that things are looking normal and stable again. I have a little growth starting up again...and PE is still great. Many colors are comming back including my Red Planet, which is still mostly brown, but its slowly showing some green again on the base and some branches.

So I'm going to keep things steady like I have been.

So now my big question (i may make a new thread) is are there any special requirements for the BLUE colors to come out more on things like a rainbow and superman monti, as well as blue tipped acros? Most colors are better...but blues are still lacking any substance and seem to go brown right after the new blue growth is settled in.
