Tank has been up over 6 weeks now and I hve not seen a single copepod. Do people ever add pods themselves if they dont have them or are they always on live rock.?
Patience first of all, 6 weeks is a pretty new tank, and also they are the size of a dot, you really have to look close. There are several places to get pods to seed your tank. Here's one place http://www.reed-mariculture.com/copepod/
The rock was supposidly uncured. but I am not sure if that is true. Sounds like I am still too early to be worried about not having any or maybe even having some I cant see.
lots of hurry up and wait with the tank. I'm doing my best not to rush stuff.
www.oceanpods.com has them if you want em'. $19.99 plus next-day air. the pods will be seen at night with a flashlight if you have them. they will be on the lower part of the tank glass. it takes a while for them to populate. sometimes, give or take, 6 months. pods will need food also. DT's Reef Blend is great but fish fecal matter is more their job in reefs. hope thishelps some, have a great weekend and REEF-ON!
I'm currently ordering pods from floridapets dot com to get the population back up in my 100g AG.
Email Holly for a quote. I have ordered one lot from them and they provided great service and good pods. I placed another order today for delivery next week. They ship 2nd day, or ground to save $$$ if you live close by (East Coast).
