Why don't you run over to Walmart, KMart, or auto supply and buy a DC to AC converter? A small one should work fine. Plug it into the cigarette lighter in your car, then run an extension cord to your tank. Plug in your return pump and keep the tank going until you have power. Depending on the size of your pump and time, you may need to run your car to avoid battery drain.
The power is back on and everything looks to be good. I think I like the Power Inverter idea better. But my tank is in the basement and I would need about 150 feet of power cord. The cup thing will be what I'll be doing next time the power is out.
