No Sick Fish

And Larry's comments are important for members to understand. The Eco Aqualizer was a total scam, and we even got our LFS to dump it. The manufacturer had a whoel sharade going where they wanted to install them on my system for free so I could do a review of the product. Ultimately, they did not follow through and went away.

While I am sure RC wants to support, and be supported by, only reputable companies, it is hard to legally weed scams out. It's not really up to RC to "approve" of any product, but to take their money and let the consumer decide. But once something has been borne out as snake oil, I guess they can take some action. There would have to be some legal considerations though.

Well...wish I read this an hour ago...got some NSF for ick....So did I read right no UV. Or should I treat NSF for the halibut and continue to garlic feed, skim and uv? I'm at a loss because I don't feel I can qt all fish. I'll never get my spawning banggi out without removing the rock first with corals...maybe that's what I will have to do. I have read the suggested few articles and then ran off the the lfs for medication and NSF was recommended, maybe I can school him on this product. ....I'm at a loss....see what happens tomorrow after some sleep.

One fish of 12 shows sighns. Saw six spots for two days on a blue tang, gone for three now there are 15-20+....Sounds like the ick cycle I read about.

If no longer a sponser...how about a sticky.

I have found over my reef keeping experience that bumping up nutrition works very well to stem Ich outbreaks. While working on stressors like water quality, aggression, etc., step up the quality of food you are feeding. Feed only frozen foods you prepare and nori if applicable. You can check out Marc's (melev) web site for great info to get you started on making food, and you are welcome to PM me for info. as well.

I make all my own food a la melev with some minor adjustments, include vitamins, Garlic Guard, etc. and when dealing with any kind of tank issue, I also increase feeding frequency while lower the amount fed at each session.

When I had Ich in my tank, I fed three times a day. I break off a piece of my homemade frozen food, soak it in tank water with vitamins and shredded nori. Once it is thawed, I strain it through a shrimp net, and SLOWLY feed it to the tank. I leave all pumps on allowing the food to get to all areas of the tank so that any fish that may be getting bullied will have a good chance to get enough to eat.

HTH!

I'm stepping up the use of Rod's Food...loaded in garlic and all the goodies. a local home grown now available at
Rod's Food
Or
Rod's at Maine
All three are RC sponsers, I believe

I'll keep you posted on the progress
Carl

Rod's is better than most frozen foods, but I cannot understand why reef keepers insist on feeding their fish and corals land based foods.

In the meantime, they could be making their own food for significantly less money with a higher nutrition content. BUT, at least you won't be feeding flake food!!
