no sps polyp extension

Alas, the constant flux of feeding enough vs. phosphates levels! I am tagging in as I have several SPS with little to know PE. I also have a dwarf angel who I have never caught picking at my SPS...but none the less may be doing it.

Are all of your SPS acting the same? Even "hairy" acros or birdsnest?

so my maricultured colonies are out the most. other corals are polyping normally. in FRANK there is lots of extension.. i just checked the nitrates and they were at 5 and po4 was at .05.... most of the sps in that system has decently good extension. my little tank is really a toss up daily . i have started to feed rods more to see if they will come out . so far i have seen a little improvement so i am thinking the NOPOX may be getting my tank too clean too fast.

i also have no PE during the day but a lot at night, no flame angel but this happened after using chemi clean, a lot of PWC and GFO after that but still no PE. :-(

i had a potters angel for a year. During those times I have none PE's on any of my sps. My parameters are all good. Also changed many lights. Searched a see that people with angels are nipping on thier sps. But I never believed because I never saw it nip on any of my corals(for the time viewing my tank). Almost pulled my hair out trying to figure out why. Then recently, I sat there literally for an hour just keeping an eye on my angel. Baaam, I caught him doing a quick drive by nip on my tort. Few mins later on the other sps's. That was enough evidence. Tank tear down in the next few days to catch him out.

Now every PE is recovering up nicely.

i too have suffered with poor pe. then i realized that at night it was a jungle in there. i have a african flame back angel that i never saw pick at the polyps. though i know he picks plate corals so they never open. can't believe i never realized that he was doing it till now. glad i read this forum.
