Hi,

I have 3 6125 pumps that are close to 6 months old. Recently, all 3 pumps has this LOUD humm.. sound. I searched the cause of this issue and found out that all my pumps has bended shaft (titanium)... Do I need to replace them every 6 months? Where can i purchase them? Also, 2 out of 3 pumps will run in reverse almost every time if I turn them on after cleaning. I have to plug/unplug many time to get them running right... Very annoying. Is there a fix for this issue? Please help. Thank you.

Your diagnosis cannot be correct, 6 months ago these pumps still had 316TI shafts and we never had a bent 316TI shaft. We changed to Titanium in late July and these pumps started shipping in August and while it is possible one is bent in production it is rare, it happens because the titanium is much harder to cut. 3 pumps to one person is very unlikely, 1 pump out of over a hundred would be the approximate defect rate for a bent shaft. Based on the symptoms you describe, my guess is either the propeller has a damaged blade or there is debris or calcium between the shaft and propeller magnet causing both the noise and the failure to start correctly. Please check this. The drive magnet must spin smoothly and easily slide up and down on the metal shaft. If a prop blade is broken, it will be unbalanced and make noise and it will run backwards. The other possibility is it was reassembled backwards on the shaft, there is a black disk that is under the drive magnet, if it is in front of the prop, you will have both noise and backwards starting.

I purchased them used a few days ago and was told that they are less than 6 months old and has Titanium shaft. Sorry for the confusion. Anyway, they were working pretty good for 2-3 days but that's probably because I wasn't home most of the time to hear them. Last night I soaked them in vinegar bath and now I have cleaned and installed them back together. Now they are a bit less noisy but still on the loud side. 2 pumps still run in reverse and I have to plug/unplug to get them to run right. There are some damaged to the prop blade and may be the reason. I will take some pictures tonight and post them on here. I will check if the shafts are bended or not too. Thank you for your response.

They would have the older 316TI shaft, this is an alloy of 316 stainless steel with a small percentage of added titanium, it is what brake and fuel lines are made of on luxury cars. The broken prop is likely the cause of backwards starting. The noise could be from the strong magnets on thinner glass (less than 1/2" will be very noisy) or because the rubber feet are missing on the magnets, there many other possible causes as well.

Where can I order rubber feet & prop? None of my pumps has rubber feet. Also, are there any rubber feet at the wet side? Thank you.

Yes, both wet and dry side magnets should have the 6200.509 rubber feet, 4 on each. I can send the props at no charge for the 2 that start backwards.

That's great. Thank you for the replacement props. Can you pm me the price (and paypal account) with shipping to CA 91730 for 24 rubber feet (for 3 pumps). Hopefully with these parts, my pumps will be quieter. Currently, I am running just two pumps. I have to disconnect one of the pump (loudest) cuz I can hear it humming from upstair bedroom.
