I've go a tunze 6055 with controller for about 6 months. I took it apart cleaned it and still noisey. It almost seam to be noisey from vibration or out of balance impeller.
I also have a 6045 its much quieter is it possible that the 6055 is noisier due to the bigger motor or a controllable motor.

Thanks
Kevin

I second that!

I recently upgraded from 6045's to 6055's w/controller. The 6045's were whisper quiet, but the 6055's seem to vibrate.

Any thoughts Roger?

Are the plastic parts of the magnetic rotor black or white? Basically the magnet has a shaft molded to it, is it white or black? How long have the pumps been in use?

We have a new drive unit that may solve this problem. Is the stainless steel shaft firmly in place? It should never come out of the pump.

Hey there Roger,

I have the exact same issue. Had the 6055 for about 6mos, the plastic parts are white. Shaft is firmly in place. The plastic white 'bearing' at teh base of the impeller is not firm on the impeller, rather it is loose and just sits at the base of the shaft and the impeller (hope that made sense).

Like the OP, a rattling noise that gets worse as the controller takes it from 40-100%.

I do have a newer 6055 that I purchased a few weeks ago. It is dead silent.

Lemme know what ya suggest as well.

(hate to hijack post, just hate to start a new thread with the same issue)

Thanks!!

As long as the shaft is firmly in the pump, a new drive unit and disk should fix it, just PM me your shipping info and that you need a 6055 drive unit and disk and we will send one.

Hi Roger thanks for your help! I'm located in Toronto and I had contacted Phil at Xenia and he was not aware of any problem with these units ,but agreed to send me a new impeller. How do I know whether I'm getting the proper one. Should I be also getting a bearing which looks like a washer. Is it possible to deal directly with you as well. Upon reading this Tunze forum I found you have given great customer service.

Thanks
Kevin

I only serve the US market. There is a black disk which is graphite reinforced nylon that replaces the stainless steel one.
