Nomadic Haddoni

Clown Pimp
I have a dinner plate size haddoni that has two juv Clarkii in it. It was a rescue from a Petco. They had it in the smallest tank possible and it was all tan. I brought it home to my reef and it in days turned the pale mint green and looked great. For 2 months it has not moved, and last night it decided to not only move, but aquascape the tank at the same time. It took large base LR and moved it, toppled corals and destroyed part of the tank in an effort to move. I put my hand in the tank to relocate it off a brain coral and it wrapped around my hand and in the effort to remove my hand, a bazillion tentacles stuck to me. I finally got it to close and I placed it back where it had been, and in a few hours it was opened back up and looked good. This morning it had moved again behind the LR and in a near impossible spot to get to. It is open and the clowns are with it, but now to move it again, I'd need to remove 50% of the LR.

What gives? Nothing has changed, does it want less flow? It was not getting blown around where it was, so I don't understand. Should i just leave it alone?

Thanks

No, same lights and on the same schedule. They are on a timer. Only thing I can think of is the wave pattern on the MP 10, I need to check it, but maybe it changed, but the Haddoni was in a spot that gets little flow as it was. If I cranked up the MP10 to full blast, it would hardly make a difference where the Haddoni was located.

Thanks

Ok, second thought. Do you feed it? If so, have you decreased the frequency of feedings? Haddoni can be a greedy eater sometimes.

Honestly, it could have been unhappy in that location all along and it was just building its strength up before it moved.

If you get a tupperware container that's at least 5 or 6 inches deep and fill almost to the rim with sand and put your haddoni it, maybe it will stay put. You can then place pieces of liverock around the container, to conceal it.
