non-controllable pump okay for on/off?

I am looking to run some pumps on long pulse intervals for gyre type flow, i.e. 15 min on, 3 min off, etc...

Is it possible to do this with non-controllable pumps without causing premature failure? Would save me a lot of money!

It is possible, but not ideal. Keep in mind the pump will chatter a bit everytime it starts.

What will this do to the life of the pump? I am thinking about doing the same thing with the 6025 model.

On the 6060 and 6080 it wears out the brakes on the impeller.

Tunze make controllable pumps for this reason so it will shorten the life some what so not ideal as mentioned models with the brake system will suffer more.
