Non moving anemone

They all move. But in general, LTAs and Sebaes tend to stay on the sand bed while BTAs move through the rocks. Dont have any experience with carpets.

Give them the conditions that they require, and they should stay put.

Before I moved, I had an S. haddoni that hadn't moved in the 3+ years that I have had it.

In all my years (( 15+ )) of keeping anemones, they have only moved because of an outside force (( including myself )), didn't notice any difference in the 5 different species that I have kept.

To clarify, it probably wont stay where you put it.

It is going to move until it finds a spot that it likes.

Then if you change anything you may cause it to relocate. Simply replacing old light bulbs with new ones which changes the amount or spectrum of light it is receiving, changing your carbon regiment which affects water clarity and thus light, changing flow patterns even by just introducing a new coral which blocks or slightly redirects flow in the tank, etc. None of the traditional anemones can just be placed in the tank and not expected to move. They all move.

Thing is, if you understand their requirements, there is a very good chance that they will stay where you put them. The last couple of anemones that I have received stayed where I put them.

So, I am going to disagree a bit, any of the hosting anemones can be placed and expected to stay put if you understand their requirements before you purchase them.

The man speaks the truth. It's all about understanding the individule species. Keep them in an environment they like and they have no reason to move. Things do happen though. Lights go out, circulation pumps die...... Luckily these things don't happen very often. An anemone in the proper environment should stay put for years on end.
