non reactor pics

With that much water volume would it not be more cost-effective (and just as importantly less work) to get a Ca reactor? Or do you prefer the daily hands on approach?

(Not that you can argue with the results folks!)

I have 300g total in one system! Both tanks (120g & 125g)are tied into one sump.

Thanks for the compliments!

DaddyJax,

What bulb are you...

 ...just kidding;)

That's cool that you're not using a reactor. I came very close once to setting one up. Pretty much had everything needed to do it, then I chickened out.

One of these days I will be able to take good pics until then Daddyjax have by far some of the best I have seen now I just need to get to his house and see the corals in person

keep the pics coming I love this stuff

Chris

man why did daddyjax have to follow me......lol

are you using a DIY 2part as well??

I have run a reactor before and I have noticed no difference in results in my corals since going DIY 2 part. Also with the process automated on a doser I find it easier to run then a calcium reactor. Also with the high ph (baked) baking soda I don't have a need to run kalk at night anymore.....pH is more steady.

i have two ca reactors sitting in my closet, never set up,

i top off with kalk and use homemade two part, on both large tanks, a 90 and 180

very nice when do you usually add the two part to your tank

the 180 actually does fine on kalk alone, i throw a few hundred ml in a couple of times per month. It does evaporate about 24 liters a day, so it gets quite a bit of kalk

the 90 gets about 12 liters of kalk a day, and i supplement with two part randomly, whenever i think it needs it. I can recognize color shifts in certain corals which indicate low alk, otherwise i just add about 100ml every now and then. I don't suggest this strategy anyone else, but it seems to work for me. I test alk about every 3 weeks, and i am usually on the low side of 3. i test ca about once every two months.

No reactor ever! I almost broke down and got one but just couldn't do it! I am getting dosing pumps instead!

Yo Daddy you got a FTS

aother question. for you guys using 2 part and a dosing pump how do you keep bottom stired or doesnt that stuff on bottom matter

I use Randy's and it is very cost efficient. I think I will try to have a maxijet to stir my two part up once I set up the dosing pumps.

Bulfraw, anytime! You know I have been trying to get your behind over for years now!

Here is one of my tanks. It is full of frags that are settled in and taking off!!

what are you doing daddyjax?!Your torts and efflos look awesome, just 2 part, no kalk? Thats what I'm running,How much are you dosing daily? Are you packin 400's?6 foot skimmer?Or is it all in the BB?looks good man!

I too shelled out the bucks for a Schuran, but little did I know how hard it was to dial in. I finally got it when I bought the peristaltic pump it needs to be fed with to really function properly. In the end I went back to B-Ionic with dosing pumps and noticed a big improvement in my colors. With the B-Ionic you get balance and 70 elements. The dead coral skeletons only contain what the corals use to calcify but do not contain what corals use in their tissue.

Pictures to come soon.
