Hey guys just a noob from Radford here sayin hi  ...I've been contemplating starting a Biocube 8 nano with some LR and easy corals. I had a 70 gallon reef a few years back but had to dismantle it due to college (currently a Radford University student). Anyways I'm just testing the waters around here to see if there is all that much interest in this region of the state....Being a college student, I obviously have quite a tight budget so I'd love to meet up with other reefers around here to trade or *cough*getfreestuff*cough* :D . I could use all the help and advice I can get!! Thanks

Welcome to the club! ... You will enjoy it here , the tanks are amazing and the people are even better... Let me know when you get set up as I am sure I have a coral or 2 to get you started....

Welcome! I am a newbie here without a tank yet.. That should change mid February. You will like it here. Alot of great people that is always willing to help you out in one way or another:)

Hey, I'm in blacksburg, good to have a reefer so close. Let me know when you get your tank set up and I'll see what I got for you.

Hey thanks for the replies! I'm currently shopping around for some live rock to get started.....I'm not sure if I'm going to buy local or not. Zooquatic Pet center in Christiansburg said they have cured LR for $6.99/lb but I don't know how the quality is. Any suggestions?? If not I'm going to buy from Pacific East Aquaculture. I've dealt with them in the past and they were great.

Zooqautic LR isn't bad. Go and check it out. They have some really awesome pieces that are in the fish tanks. They will sell that stuff and it's in really neat shapes and stuff. I bought LR online once and I bought from Dr. Fosters and Smith and I was pleased with what I got. I go up to That fish place (www.thatpetplace.com) a lot and I can get 10% off of the live rock there. It's good quality. Buying online is such a pain in the butt because of the shipping prices for rock. And by the time it gets to you it still needs to be cured for like a week because stuff will inevitably die during shipping.

I would recommend going to check out Ultimate Aquarium in Dalesville. VA (right above Roanoke). I don't know their live rock prices, but it would be a good trip just to figure out how you want to go about setting up your tank and what kinds of corals you might be interested. If you want to check out some sweet tanks right here in Blacksburg we will be having a "tank crawl" the weekend after Superbowl, but you are welcome to come by and check out my tank anytime and I'll see what I can do for you. 240-538-2912
