noob needing help and advise

hi guys and girls

new to forum and new to saltwater only freshwater done before

got myself a fluval evo 13 all set up on the 8th jan with live sand and dry rock then added some fritzzyme 9 (may have added abit to much) and let it cycle for a few before testing water.

no live stock

using api saltwater test kit

ammonia 0.5 ppm

nitrite 5+ ppm

nitrate 40 ppm

salinity 1.025

nitrite been high for about 5-6 days now

am i on the right track or is the nitrite on high side?

Everything is fine, you're just cycling. Eventually the nitrite will read 0 and your nitrates will begin to drop too. Be patient.

Just keep on trucking. It'll sort itself out in time, and then you'll need to do some water changes to get the nitrate down.
