Oh, sorry to hear that. :( I just came home last night and found my Six Line dead on the floor. And he was such a cool fish, and always very peaceful. I had him for 7.5 months.

I had the same thing happen to mine a couple of years ago and like you I had never heard of them jumping before. Someone suggested that maybe something was either chasing it or it got frightened by the lights changing suddenly and jumped. Sorry for your loss.

yea it sucks it def. got spooked by something prob my shrimp scared him it sucks but goona go get a new one today from bobs and go to the home deopt and make those DIY screen tops with the screen frame. really dont want to but cant afford to lose any more fish they mean to much to me then justa fish alot of care, time and monet goes in these fish for them to do the leap of faith to there doom well talk to you all later Brian

I had one of my clowns jump out of the tank a month or so ago... I had made a screen top but there was a small opening in the back corner for my return and he somehow managed to find it and jump through. I've since had a glass top made at a local glass shop (~25 bucks at CT Plate and Glass in BPort) and made my return come through the tank. Works great and my evap is down significantly. I dont' notice any significant light decrease...but I haven't tested it either. May have to monitor temps as it gets warmer...but a fan in the sump should hopefully keep the water cool in the summer.

If you do roll with the screen top...make sure you don't leave any small openings like I did. No matter how small, seems the fish will find it.

I had a Red Velvet go through egg crate (the LFS owner where I got it assured me egg crate was fine - that was what they used). Also discoverd that the green chromis fit through it when I was using it as a barrier to corner and catch them. Swan right through with no issues.

I found my mandarin behind the tank last night while doing maintenace. He hadn't dried out yet but had obviously been there a while. I was going to toss him in the toilet but I decided to dip him in the tank to get a better look at him. I thought I saw him twitch at first them a few seconds later he swam out of my hand. I was amazed he was still alive. He seemed to have excreted a slime coat to protect himself. I'm glad I found him when I did. No telling how long he was there.

WOW I'm happy for you that he lived thats sooooo good thx god youy didnt flush him well hope he does good. later Brian
