I bought some nori seaweed online for what, compared to other stores seemed a good deal. It was 100 sheets for $30. Online they don't quantify with a weight. I stopped by Goodwill to drop off some old clothes and saw Seoul Grocery and figured I would wander through. After you eliminate the nori packs with other ingredients(oil, Seasoning) I found sone nori that was just roasted seaweed. Its called Nagai's Roasted seaweed Sushi Nori value pack. It has 50 8"x7" sheets at 4.9 oz for $6.59. Now they had cheeper products but this looked like the best deal/product at a great price.
When I get the other Nori in I will know the exact weight to see how bad I was raped.

Sounds like both you and I got ripped off... :D I was bored two weeks ago so I decided to take a drive up to the new Big Al's store. While there I saw a big bag of roasted sea weed along with little packs.

The big bag was 100 sheets of 8x7", with a total weight of 274 grams, (9.74 oz). Sounds like the same thing you ordered online. I paid $34.99 plus tax, so your $30.00 sounds about the same when you figure in shipping, unless that was the shipped price. It still sounds like we did get raped on the price, if what they are selling at the store you visited is the same product.

On the bag I got, the manufacturers sticker reads... Roasted Seaweed, net wt. 283g, full size, product of china. Big Al's simply slaps there sticker over the Manufacturers sticker. Big Al's sticker reads Seaweed Salad Green Marine Algae. Ingredients: Natural Dried Seaweed and gives a breakdown of it's "guaranteed analysis" percentages, and the weight of 274 gms.

Sound like next time I will be visiting the store you mentioned to pick up my algae... hopefully this pack I bought will last me for a while though.

Hi Andy! How did you find the location of the new Big Als? I haven't seen anything on the website to announce it. Do yo have a website, or map or address or something to share with us? Didn't know it was open already. can't wait to visit..

Ken,

Big Al's site is Here
Store was pretty nice, still slowly adding fish and cycling when I went, but I would like to go back soon.

Thanks Andy, that's great. I'll mapquest it later and plan a trip someday. I kept logging into the niagra USA store site and they said nothing of the other stores in the US. florida, and california. and now Philadelphia. one more place.

wonder how long it will take to get the site up and running? they should have put it in Delaware, no sales tax for walk in shopping.

just an FYI. about every supermarket has nori. we get ours from superfresh for around $4. just look in the ethnic food section

Ya thats what i was going to say.. if you cant find it in a grocery store check a asian food market... its really cheap

I had checked many of the supermarkets in the ethnic food section but didnt see it. I even asked and they looked at me weird. I had been meaning to check an Asian food store but never got around to it.

I got the seeweed from TPP and it was 9.74 oz. 2 of the other bags @ 6.59 each had the same weight and sheets.
Oh well, mext time I will know
