Normal for a bta to shrink EVERY night suddenly after ten months??

I really need some advice guys.
For ten months now my nem has been pretty normal.
At night it would fold on itself but stay large.
Now for the past 8 days, every night, almost exactly a half hour before lights are out it is shrinking up almost all the way.

It doesent seem as healthy anymore.

It readily accepts food, but when it shrinks so small every night its losing its food... right?

Im really concerned

Any advice will be greatly appreciated

i noticed my bta would do that at night when the main lights go off i have just the moon lights going for a while and its pretty small once the refugium light kicks on i notice it perks back up could be drop in ph due to lack of light.

Maggie,

Try switching to some mysis instead of silversides. My split from you is blowing up size wise (probably 5" base) with the food (I shoot 10-15 mysis at the anem every 2-3 days and it eats almost all of them). I've seen some research on gut-rot, and I wonder if it's having issues digesting silversides. Just a thought.

rokle.. I read your thread somewhere on the mysis. I fed it mysis hoping it wouldent shrink that night, it still did.

Mine is huge as well, but its acting totally stressed out.

I tested my ro water lastnight, its still good (2 tds)

I had this sneaking suspision of a maxi jet giving off stray electricity (whyen i put my thumb on the outside of the tank and three fingers on the maxi, the spot between my thumb felt like it was getting shocked. I might just be crazy.
I also saw my tang do a twitch by the maxijet, So I tore that out in the middle of the night and replaced it. Im not really sure if its true. But Ive run every test I can think of.

All other coral fish etc are acting completely normal though.

I shifted its rock a few millimeters incase it was trapped and finally needed to realese its foot. Light just came on and its expaanding agian.

heres a pic of the foot the day it split. its still wrapped around that lil rock.

ugh! and to complain a lil. i got pic pocketed at polaris yesterday!!! ok. Im gonna put my happy face on. I found a wallet when i was looking for mine! maybe karma will be good to me today. or im going to bed for the rest of december!!

Mine get smaller at night too. I dont know for sure, but I think that this is normal. Just like corals closing up and "resting" for the night, the BTA does the same thing. I dont know about other anemones though, BTA's are all I've ever had.

Mine never did this tho!!!

I flipped over the rock his foot was under, hoping it wouldent rip, move around alot, etc.

It moved a half inch, expanded like crazy, and stayed big all night (like it used too!!!) Im confident i did the right thing. I think I almost lost my nem!!! Boy does it look good this morning.

Im guessing the rock shifted over time totally trapping it.
