Normal for Clown to rest on bottom not moving?

I would think the obvious answer to this would be no. I was up all night studying last night and noticed my large female clown in the corner just resting on the bottom not moving at all in the middle of the night. As soon as I stuck my head closer to inspect she perked up and started doing the normal clown dance. She was immediately bold with her territory pushing the male around. I started panicking and testing ammonia ect... but everything was perfect and all the other fish looked normal. After I got home from class today she looks healthy as ever. I just fed them and everything looks normal now.

It's pretty sad when you find yourself worrying about your fish during class!

My female does that almost every night. Her and the male have taken to the front left corner of the tank. Sometimes she looks like she's not moving at all. I'd say it's completely normal.

I have a large Percula Clown that does the same thing. When she gets excited, like at feeding time, she will go limp and lay on the bottom on her side motionless. If you rap the tank with your knuckles, she comes to life and feeds. First time I witnessed this behavior I though she had just died but it seems to be normal behavior for her. Geo.

LOL the same thing happened to my fiance the morning after we got our set of clowns. Laying on the sand in a corner she almost started crying thinking we lost one. I have seen the one doing that several times.

I'll chime in too...all of my Ocelaris Anemonefish have slept during the night. I even had to cover the tank in my living room while they were in it, because the TV kept them up!

Thanks for the replies everyone. I feel much better now. Now I'm concerned they're not doing it more often :)

I figured everyone was going to be like yea dummy probably not good!

Odds are they do, you just don't notice it. It takes mine probably 15 minutes to settle down to bed after all of the lights in the room are off. The tv doesn't keep mine up because its a small tv, but if any other light is on, they stay up. I've forgotten to turn off the lamp before bed before and all the next day they all looked pale and sad, I think from lack of sleep.

I keep white moon lights on my Orbit fixture on all night long; it doesn't seem to bother them. They settle down in a corner of the tank in a moderate current and do their clown dance all night long. Geo.
