Normal Mantis Behavior?

I recently purchased a what I believe to be is a Lime Green Mantis shrimp about an inch & 1/2 or so. Well basically he's in a 5 gallon bowfront and the first few days he has been making his home inside one of the 2 large pieces of liverock that i have in the tank.

Recently I discovered that during the evenings with the lights off, he often uses a small piece of rock almost like a lure in front of his hole...he tends to move the rock in and out of the hole and I thought this was awesome. (if it is indeed using this as a lure) But other than that im pretty satisfide w/my purchase.

Many species will seal their burrow with a rock or shell at night. Looks like you've got one of those. If you want to ID your mantis, check Roy's List (a sticky on this forum). Or, post a good picture or two and we'll help you out!

Most cavity living species in the wild seal their entrances at night, when they are molting and in some cases when they have eggs. It is common to use the same pebble or shell over and over again.
