I have two large sps corals that I have had for about three years. I have grown them both from very small frags. One is an ora green stylo, and the other is an orange monti cap. The stylo is the size of a large softball now and the skeleton on the inside is dead. The monti cap is 18x12x10high and has many shelves that are packed tight in most places. The stylo is dead in the middle. Is it a result of the coral drowning out the light? It is very healthy on the outside. The Monti is mostly dead on the bottom off the lowest shelf. Also the lack of lighting from the coral growing over it? Polys are looking good on both. My numbers are off, but no nitrates or phosphates. Calcium is too high(500). PH and Kh are a little low(7.8-8.0 and 7). Don't have a Mag kit right now. Thanks guys.

i think its a lack of lighting... its not too uncommon for large colonies to die out a bit on the bottom and lower areas as they end up having a lack of proper light... i could be wrong, you certianly asked in the right place and i am sure more with more experience will chime in soon :)

good call guys. The Stylo does have weak flow at the base. I'll lower my power head and see what happens.
