I have only 1 ice cap 400WATT. and i built 2 of the others. Man i electric bill went up this year. But my coral growth is out standing. I have to have the ball. go out for about 2 hrs. per day just to keep the heat down. I used the air all year,i didn't hook up my chiller this year eather. Hear is a picture of my birdsnest in feb or march of this year and the next will be from i think june 21,2008. and then 4-6-08 one of my table corals. June 21 2008 of the same table. you will love the growth you get with them.

Good luck with it.

Wow, Pretty sick pictures!! All things were kept the same except lights?

Local reefer is coming over today around noon to deliver me all my creepy crawlers (crabs, snails, etc). Also, my Ice Cap male adapters should be here around noon.

Lastly, I ordered a dual chamber media reactor that has JG fittings!! Next Reef MR-1 Monster is what I ordered.

I have a question about calcium reactors...What is the ideal pH in the calcium reactor? Bubble count? How about the drip ouput into my sump?

Oh one more update...

Scott will be sending me some updated parts for my skimmer to see if that helps production. He is sending me a new custom built needle wheel, a venturi with 3 different settings, and 3 more diffuser plates (different hole sizes and configurations). I am hoping this will take care of the low skimmate production.

There is no "ideal" rate on the Ca reactor. Start by following the manufacturer's recommendation. Just keep the bubble count steady and start with a very slow water flow. Depending on your media type, you are going to keep the reactor between 6.2 and 7.0...start at the higher end of the manufactuer recommendation though.

I hope you have yours on a controller so the CO2 will go on and off based on reactor pH as well as tank pH. Because you have very low demand right now, you want to be careful so you don't overdo it. Just test daily at the same time. I usually test at the highest pH point in the last hour of lighting.

Well I finally got my lights all hooked up. The ballasts and wires are not in there final location but i wanted to post pictures of the results. Please excuse the dirty glass :)

I am running 12k reeflux bulbs at exactly 19" off the water. they have been running about 3-4 hours and the temp in the tank has only risen 1 degree.

WOW 6 LBs. NICE!!! That is a ton of light. Wait till you get that water clear, you will really see how these reflectors penetrate the water.

Wow that has got to throw out some heat. I have had 1 400 for about 9 months and I finally hooked up my other 2 and it is way bright. I cant imagine all 6 going , your gona need shades to work in the fish room..hahhahah

Well after 7 months of waiting for the skimmer and 2 months of waiting for answers to the problems with the skimmer...I am done. I am going to get some modifiactions and testing done on the skimmer and see if that will help production. Its not doing anything the way it sits now. I have way too much money invested to have the whole tank's health riding on a product that may or may not work correctly.

I tried that and the air injection creates too much turbulent action in the neck. I tried to bleed the air and it helps with the turbulence, but it then makes larger bubbles in the neck.
