Northeasten Pa aquarium stores

That Fish place and knockOUT aquatics is your best bet! Finsanity in W-B IMO is going down hill.. What are you looking to buy? I would try the local reefers for live stock

There is also something fishy in North Hampton. we moved to new jersey and it's about 30 mins away from us. really nice place, awesome livestock choices and product. rude workers, but hey the product quality and prices are very good.

hey i went to school at Penn College and remember there being an aquarium store (i wasn't in the hobby then but..) maybe it was montoursville or loyalsock??? lemme google and try and find it for you. It was near that main strip where the monroe muffler, arbys and subway and entrance to the highway are

Thats petsmart. No saltwater. The local petco has a guy named chris in charge and petco limits what he can do but he can get a fish in you like possibly. I am from williamsport too, we should swap frags if your interested.

No it was a mom and pop type LFS, but now that i think about i haven't been in williamsport since i graduated college and that was over 10 years ago now LOL! maybe they closed up

Like this tread. Have to check out some of these stores. I am in Philadelphia and only two places I have found I like so far. Aquatic Specialties in Frazer,PA and That Pet Place. Got to find more :(

That Fish Place has a large selection of livestock, but their prices are very high compare to most LFS, especially for coral. i've found that customer service in the fish room is pretty much of a dice roll.

yeah, thatfishplace's livestock prices are a little high. something fishy also seems good. but do not expect friendly service. The highschool kids that work there don't really seem to care. But the selection and quality are great. I'm surprised Philadelpia dosen't have anything good.

LOL....I had no idea you Pa guys were around...I live 10 minutes from Knockout and Ultra, 30 minutes from SomethingFishy and prob 40 minutes from Finsanity( haven't been there yet), 2 hours from ThatFishPlace

Ultra: is expanding and opening a fish only room so one room coral one fish. Steve(owner) is very nice and easy to talk to. More expensive but dynamite looking livestock. Very limited dry supplies but with another room on the way...

KnockoutAquatics: Kelvin(owner) and Bill are very nice and helpful, coral/Frag selection is not so good right now but recovering after AC issues. Lots of small Zoa's with good prices, and like I said really friendly. Ok amount of supplies

SomethingFishy: Lots of fish and inverts, some pretty common looking corals/frag but some nice size colonies for the price can be had. Good selections of dry goods and equipment. Largest store of those I listed next to ThatFishPlace (remember I haven't been to Finsanity so I cant speak to their size) but ThatFishPlace is literally a warehouse so size cant be compared.

Im looking for local/semi-local clubs if anybody knows.....:p

Others have already mentioned the one's I'd mention: TFP, Something Fishy, knockOUT and I'd also add Reef and Tails (www.reefandtails.com)..it's basically the owner's basement but it's all salt so he's actually bigger than the salt section of most mom and pop pet stores. He has limited hours but I've always gotten good stuff from him. It's also 5 minutes from my house and I've known the owner for years. :)

Make sure you also check out: http://reefcentral.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=246
..we're a very active club and do frag swaps all over PA (including at TFP).

Savant, what Fizz said.

I'm guessing you're from the Stroudsburg or Brodheadsville area. Finsanity is my LFS. Okay, not mine but the one most local to me. It's small, but has a nice variety most of the time. I also head up to The Pet Zone in Pittston once in a while. I made the trip to Something Fishy once. If it was closer, I wouldn't bother going to the other two I mentioned. Nothing against them, but the difference between the W-B/Scranton metro area and the Northampton area is a lot of $$$, and the quality of any type of store is evident.

Was not a fan.. I like it lack of coral though :(

The Hidden Reef is where I usually go, locally. Jason's been a big help with my questions over the past 8 months. You could also try The Pet Shack in Hatfield (http://www.thepetshack.biz). Carmine, the owner, is very cool and his livestock always looks great.

To the OP, I know seeing before purchasing is always preferred, but I don't think you can go wrong with one of the well known vendors online. Everything in my tank, outside of a few random snails, was purchased online. The only fish that I did but locally died in QT. Just a coincidence, but still. :)

Steer clear away from Pet Zone unless you want to add flatworms to your tank. One of the worst infestations I've seen. They also add copper to their fish tanks so if you do buy, don't add their water to your tank ever. A guy I know didn't take my advice and lost about every piece of coral he had within a few hours of adding fish and water from there.

One place that is pretty good now is Natures Best Fish in Vestal ny which is a little north of Binghamton. Nice corals and fish, big store and they have some of the coolest rock you have ever seen. Right from the Caribbean. The o Lu thing is the rock is very expensive.

I will have to check out the pet shack. For now I think I am going to stick with "Aquatic Specialties and Research" (http://www.aquariumspecialtiesresearch.com/) website is kinda terrible but the owner, Mike, is pretty awesome guy. Always has some pretty unique corals and great prices. I got a Bubble Tip nem from him that had about 4 different colors in it (blue mouth, green base of tentacles, yellow tenticals and red tips) for only 50 bucks and it was a nice size. And he is overall nice guy who doesn't mind helping you. Even if it means he doesn't get the sale.

He was the one who ran the fish room at Frazer Zoo before they shut down.
