Not all sps the same

I am just starting my sps collection and obviously not all sps need the same parameters.i have a about 10 different sps frags.all of my parameters are good but some do better than others ,even in the same genre( acroporas) for example.are there any tips to better grow each type or is it hit or miss.
For example I bought a frag of gaffs purple bonsai about a month ago and it was in a rack on the back of my tank about midway down( I have a 29 cube) and it seems to be losing color and the tips are receding a little.i just got a ai nano light and am ramping up,currently at about 30%. So. I moved it to the top,of the tank. Again is lighting placement for each genre a general rule as to where they should be placed?.if so can someone post there opinions.

Keep ca alk and mg stable at around 8-9 alk, 400-450c ca and 1300 mg good flow and good lighting and time.

Yes every coral has its preferences, because they are all acroporas does not mean treat them all the same. You should talk to the source of your corals to find out the conditions they were under; acclimate them to your lighting. Also realize that every tank is different.

Key is stable conditions and give them time to settle in before you move thm all around the tank; but having to move corals to find the spot where it's most happy in your tank is common.
