Not real happy w/the new 6105 pricing

I have a 6105 and am perfectly happy with the current nozzle design. I need to get another one this week. I hope I can still get the old version and avoid the $35 upcharge! Why force us to pay $35 for a nozzle we may not want? It would be better to ship the product w/only one nozzle (the most popular one), keep the price the same, and allow the customer to order a different nozzle if they require. Imagine purchasing a car and being told you have to purchase all the available options :(

I am sorry but we had no better way to accomodate those who wanted wider flow, this camp is split pretty much 50/50 and making a separate wide flow option version, with separate packaging and a sku was even more of a headache and one most dealers would balk at. The majority of people like to play, they like options and the option to try wide or narrow flow out of the box at a relatively modest price increase seemed the best way forward.

I just bought the new version and received it last night (in Singapore) and tested it. The wide flow nozzle is good... but I have one complain, which is the magnet.. I think it's very weak, I think my 6025 magnet is stronger! I have a feeling it will slowly slide down my tank! Any suggestions or can we feedback to TUNZE on this?

The weaker magnet is a fact, your 6025 had a neodymium magnet rated to 3/4", up to now 6105's had a similar rated neodymium magnet. The cost of the raw neodymium magnets has increased 600% since a year ago, the bottom line is we can't even make one for what they used to sell for as a spare part. There are two options, use a weaker magnet to avoid increasing the price, or charge a lot more and include the same strength magnet we used to. Since most 6105 users have tanks in the range of about 180 gallons and glass of 1/2" thick, we opted to use a weaker ferrite magnet, this magnet is only rated to 5/8" and is weaker. The stronger magnets are an optional accessory. All pumps except the 6155 and 6015 will be getting weaker magnets as stock. You can look to the price increases many of our competitors have implemented or will be soon or simply search rare earth elements and see the turmoil that has been caused by the Chinese restricting supply and fixing the pricing of these magnets and related elements, at this time they have the only source. The good news is that prices have come down a little because so many companies have found alternatives and with hope, by 2014 Australia, the US and Canada may have there own mines operational and the pricing will become more sane. 20% of the price increase on these magnets is essentially a tariff on companies who won't make a finished product in China and just want raw magnets, like us. It is an arm twisting move and we refuse to play.
