dont worry bout the dead tip, had it when i got it... what i am worried about is my polyps are dying from the bottom up... not exactly good..

temp has fluctuations from 80-74
never tested MG...
Calcium seems to be steady at 440..

I know this would be the wrong forum, but also, my Xenia have been melting the passed 2 days, i did a 5 gallon water change this morning on my 28g system.. hope it helps....

Is this a newly aquired frag? Hows the flow around it, and what do you have for lighting? Is the alkalinity steady?

Temp fluctuations 74 - 80? 74 is pretty low and a 6 degree swing is on the large side, especially if the tank it came from has a more minimal swing.

How's the phosphates and how are you testing it? Also you should definately get a Mg reading.

Xenia melting is very common. Someday you'll be glad it did. Especially if you're going the sps route. It usually does recover though even if from specs left over.

Also you should consider doing something about the aiptasia before it takes over your tank. Any Aiptasia near the base of the Acro?

Temp fluctuating too much. No more than 2 degrees per day is needed. Everything about an aquarium is consistency.

Also, I see aptasia in your second pic w/ the dreaded xenia... Aptasia is usually a sign of too many nutrients. Cut back on feeding.

What ever is killing your xenia pass it this way......please, I would rather have aptasia than xenia, atleast there are methods to get rid of it.

recieved the frag from a friend, ive had it for about 2 months i'd say. It probably doesnt get the best flow in the tank, but i've replaced both blowers in my jbj with maxi 12's and everything else waves like wind. light is a 150 w 14k MH... My PH might sometimes dip to the low side of 8.0 which also makes me think me alk might kilter off as well... I will retest phosphates in the morning.. work beat me up.. on the aiptasia, my friend and i trade a filefish back and forth for about 3 weeks at a time who is a notorious aiptasia eater ... i hope to get this under control... nano's are tough :mad2:

Alkalinity isnt the only thing which determines pH. CO2 also plays a lrge role. pH dipping a bit below 8.0 is not bad.

From the pic it looks like the recession is either extremely slow or has stopped. When is the last time you performed a water change and how much % was changed. Also what salt are you using?

I use instant ocean most of the time, i might start using my LFS water because they have an RO/DI unit, which i do not... and yes... it is happening VERRY slow.... VERRRY... i usually change out 5 gallons of water every week... which is 20% a week
