nothing but pieces

ahhhh...my GBTA got into my mjmod. there's nothing left, but tiny green pieces. mjmod was covered with mesh, but the suction is still pretty strong...now i'm just hoping the tank doesn't crash.

it seemed to be doing well, had a nice spot in top of the rocks right under the light. over the last couple of days it kept moving to the back of the tank and into the flow path of the mjmod. i figured no big deal, the mjmod flow would encourage it back to the front. there was no way it would move toward that flow. tragically wrong.

anyone covered an mjmod? no way i'm getting another nem til i figure this out.

MJ mods are not easy to cover unless you make your own out of some plastic screen that attaches to your tank. BTA's can get into the smallest places.

Keep doing water changes for the rest of your tank.

Thanks. I've got a couple of ideas for screening the mjmods - a project for the weekend. If it works, I post pics.

Boo, that sucks...I'm sorry for your nem. MJmods sure do beast those little ph's right up, don't they? My mods killed a sea hare once...sucked it right into the slots. It certainly does suck to lose anything, but it was only useless if you don't learn something.

I'm glad to see you're taking the steps to prepare it before just throwing another nem in and hoping the same outcome doesn't occur.

so here's the question. i'm working on a new cover, but what is the basic problem. do the nems crawl onto the powerheads or just get too close and get sucked in? i was thinking about making a 'spiked' cover, so that they wouldn't want to crawl onto the powerhead.
