Wow, really looks nice. That is exactly what my tank should look like as I got the same bulbs. Is there enough lighting though so the corals will grow? Looks rather blue to me - is it too blue?
Its a little more white in person. If you think that is two blue, that is with only 2 Blue Pluses! Imagine if you put three or four blue plus bulbs in there. Keep in mind T5 blue bulbs still have a lot of par, even if you had all blue bulbs you would still get growth (not that anyone would do that). The blue bulbs are where T5s really set themselves apart, you get the coloration with PAR. The ATI Blue Plus actually has more PAR than the Current 10k daylight bulb!
OMG, I just looked at my order and saw that I did order 4 blue plus, one actinic white and one aquablue. Oh well, I will just have to see for myself if it will be too blue for me. Even though you provided a picture I am sure it looks different in person. If it is too blue I can always use one or two of the bulbs that came with the fixture and save the ATI bulbs I am getting as replacement bulbs when it is time to change.
hornman - so apparently you did not use any glass lid on your aquarium right? You did keep the protective lens on the unit also right? And was it sitting on the tank or hanging? According to the instructions it said that this unit was to sit on the tank, although I have seen them where they are hanging. How long did you have your light fixture before it shorted out? As for my tank - I am using half glass and half crate - now I am wondering if I should just go ahead and use all glass top. I would hate to have to buy another light fixture in the near future (quite expensive). Plus since it is sitting on my tank and not hanging it is only about 3" - 4" above the water. I do notice already that there is some salt splash on the protective lens. I am sure most of it is caused from the powerheads I am using as I have them directed more upwards to keep the water movement going on top rather than pointed down towards my corals as some of them don't like a lot of water movement.
You got that bulb suggestion from Grim didn't you? That is the exact combo that he recommended for me, wasn't what I was looking for once I got the bulbs. Let us know what you think of that bulb combo once you get it fired up.
Well, I saw that he recommended it to someone else who wanted a bluer looking tank so that was probably you sjfishguy. I also wanted my tank to have a bluish side to it, but not too blue. However, after I put in the bulbs and I don't like it I may, as I said, go with one or two of the white bulbs that the fixture came with. I will have to play around with it. I really don't want to have to purchase any more bulbs for awhile.

Also consider their newer 14k Coral Light for excellent PAR.
I'd say I had the light 6 to 7 months before it shorted out. My tank is in the basement were moisture and humidity levels tend to be high. No glass top. Protective lense in place.
