I live in San Diego. I hear that scripps institute of oceanography has a hose you can get all the filtered sea water you want for free, LFS say don't use it, wonder if they just want to keep selling me salt. lol

This is a dream, you have at least check it out and test it? It would be rude not to!!

I work at a LFS in San Diego & have been using Scripps water for over 20 years with no issues. You should think about joining San Diego reefs. There is a ton of info on scripps water.
 
Well I just mixed up 55 gallons of new water, after I use it up I think I'll try scripps water and see what happens, I work only 15 minutes away from scripps kinda crazy not to try.
 
:fish1: I would test it first and if it test ok I would use it. It all depends on where you collect it. If you have a boat or other means to collect it offshore or in a pristine area it should be ok. :fish1:
