Ted, do you think a little 17' sailboat could get out to good water? A friend of mine is talking about giving me one, as he's having to liquidate assets and knows I love the water..

That would depend on your Seamanship . I would not have a problem with going out , but I don't know how much water you could haul safely .

I was told the boat can handle about 1000 lbs plus me.. I would only need about 40 gallons at a time, which is less than half of that..

Ted,

Were you guys able to get offshore this week? I was out of town but my wife said it was blowing pretty good on Monday.

Was able to get out today - nice "high" high tide today and calm seas - was able to go about 7 miles out in the 16 footer (much cheaper NSW that way).

Also of note - looks like the peppermint shrimp have moved on. Last two times I have checked my stone crab traps there have been zero peppermints. Maybe the warming of the water has them moving offshore???

Jim , I haven't been able to get away . My Dad has some health problems , so Linda , and I have been busy working trying to get him back on track . Sorry to hear that about the Peps . I know the snails come , and go with the seasons , the peps may do the same . How is your tank doing ? Ted
