Just received a call from a friend who works at a LFS. It seems one of his large vats filled with Zoas was infested with Nudibranchs that were visable from every angle. After a single major dose with Salifert's Flat Worm Exit, he's reporting a complete eradication of all juvi and adult nudis. I told him that his problem is not completely solve as the FWE will not kill the eggs. He must use the FWE again every 3 days for the next two weeks to insure that he has a successfull and complete eradication. The incubation period of nudi eggs is around 7 to 11 days ( give or take a day or 2 ) and without a follow up treatment he will only kill the egg bearing nudis and not the eggs. FYI.

NOTE. When dosing FWE for Nudibranch infestion, you should double the recommended dosage on the bottle.

I can not prove this, but I truly believe there is more than one type, in fact several type, of zoas eating nudis. Why yah say that Mooch? A few years ago I had nudis and I tried the FWE and it did the trick, totally, I mean totally eradicated the nudis. I tried it a year later when I had them again, same strenght etc, and it did nothing.

He also stated to me that it turned the nudis almost inside out when it killed them. I have never heard that before, but I believe him as he is a good friend of mine.

jessiesgrrl, I wrote something regarding your question and saved it on my PC somewhere. It is rather lenghty so I will try to fine it, copy and post it ASAP.

Hmmmm, if it turned them almost inside out, you are talking about contracture maybe? Like if you poured salt on one side of a slug, it would shrivel on that side and wind up curling to that side like a C shape? Maybe the outside shriveled because it contacted the FWE, but the inside had not so it just contractured inside out?

Just a thought

very interesting... are there more reports of this working by chance?

I've posted a few times on this board saying Flatworm eXit worked for me. I also have a Neon Wrasse that may have been eating the larger nudibranchs, but I don't know that for sure. He definetely was not eating the tiny ones. I was FW dipping my frags a couple times a week. After the first dose of FE, there were no more nudibranchs falling off the frags in the FW dips. A week later, I did another dose of FE just to be sure. That was over a month ago, and I haven't seen a nudibranch since and all my zoanthids are doing better than ever.

I'm still considering removing the wrasse as he's not that pretty and he's got a really annoying habit of flipping loose frags over and putting them in bad spots (under rocks shaded from the light). Plus I think he may have killed my two blood red fire shrimp. It was either him or the flame hawk.
