Can anyone tell me what kind of nudibranch this is and if it's reef safe? It seems to be eating the algae off the rocks. IMG_1952.jpg

Yes, these small nudibranches are usually pests (Berghia are only good because their prey is a pest itself).

I would start checking the undersides of corals, particularly montiporas, and also have a closer look at zoa colonies and if there is any sign of decline.
Usually these guys have the color of their prey, so check the corals that match its color first.

In the 80s and 90s I lost lots of zoas to these guys - back then we didn't have dips beyond freshwater.

It looks too big to be a montipora eating nudibranch and i dont think its zoantus nudibranch eyther.Safest thing to do is to take it out ,sadly ,because if its a pest and starts to breed it will be verry hard to get rid of them.

I removed it last night... there actually was two of them... keeping an eye out to see if any more show up and they will also be removed.

Looks like I need to dip my corals for slightly longer than I have.
