Hmmm interesting.. idon't know don't feed more than normal only 5 fish in a 55. Also, logic tells me that even if I clean the rocks off there will still be debree left on the bottom and such.. I may have to start over.....urrrrrggg!!!

You would start over rather than turn your lights out. I think it would be less work and cost to just turn your lights out and do some water changes as the algae dies.

Thanks a ton for all the advice guys.

Lets see well to start the tank has been running for over two years old. I only use RO from my local walmart at 29 cents a gallon can't beat that. I use 1 400 W MH 20k..its about 7 months old...have another 400w MH just not in use right new brand new...so all the rock 75-100pounds is over to one side top ftry and control it better plus thats where the light is...

I do have a turboflotor skimmer that is about shot( It produces very little skimmate...even when I clean it it'll work fine for a week then suck again!!maybe I need a more powerful pump on it...), need to upgrade or go backpack...In the process of hooking up my fuge/sump. I have read that this would help keep the nutrients down in the fuge area as I will be going reverse lighting. (I got it from a guy on the board..about time I used it...)

I did at one point turn the lights out for a week and almost ...97% of it was gone....., but it came back a few weeks later, not really sure what I did different but feed normal amounts of flake food to the fish...HOWEVER I DID ADD SALT THE GOOD OCEANIC KIND) other than that.....Oh I have an old BIO wheel i simply use for more (circulation and carbon)...that may be a problem too...getting rid of that, just hasn't cuase me a problem until now.

Sorry for babbling just thinking outloud....

Anyone have a fuge going ...does it reallly help...I will work on mine in the next week or so...Just need to get a better skimmer first....as it won't fit in my sump.......Oh and I do have an anemome not sure if he can take it with the lights out for a week..

thanks for any more help.
